Tunisia and "SunGard" multinational company sign convention
(TAP) - A convention was signed on Thursday between the Tunisian State and multinational company "SunGard", which is specialised in developing and marketing software and computer solutions dedicated to international financial institutions.
[Translate to English:] The convention provides for developing activities of SunGard Technology Services (STS), a subsidiary of the SunGard group, particularly in the areas of developing software dedicated to financial services as part of the "Global Delivery Model," and providing a set of services, such as technical assistance, consulting, etc.
Under the convention, the company plans to employ 450 engineers and university graduates in 2010, 650 in 2011 and 1000 in 2012.
This multinational company whose annual turnover is of 5.5 billion dollars, employs over 21,500 executives and provides its services to over 25,000 customers in 70 countries.
The signing ceremony was chaired by Minister of Communication Technologies Mohamed Naceur Ammar, in the presence of Mrs. Lamia Chaffai Sghaier, Secretary of State in charge of Information Technology, Internet and Free Software.
The Minister said Tunisia has opted for investment in ICT and provides today all conditions for success to investors and large companies.
He said that the choice made on Tunisia by this multinational company confirms once again the excellent image enjoyed by the country on the international scale, given the climate propitious for investment and creation of innovating and high-employability projects and the availability of highly skilled human resources.
Mr. Mack Gill, Chairman of SunGard Global Services, underlined, in turn, that activities of the SunGard centre in Tunisia have an increasing importance in the strategy of SunGard, similarly to the centres of India and China.
Tunisia offers a considerable potential of high qualified skills who contribute to developing products and solutions of SunGard, he also said.
Mr. Adel Torjmen, Director General of SunGard Technology Services in Tunis, pointed out, in turn, that Tunisia offers to such multinational companies as SunGard a climate propitious to business and optimum means in terms of human resources and infrastructure in an environment of political and socio-economic stability.
